We are a worldwide fellowship of men and women of all faiths working together in mutual respect and affection, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and with a common loyalty to the Young Men’s Christian Association, striving through active service to develop, encourage and provide leadership to build a better world for all mankind.

Paul William Alexander Legacy

The Alexander Scholarship Fund, otherwise known as ASF, was named after the founder of the Y’s Men Movement, Judge Paul William Alexander. The program was called the Paul William Alexander Scholarship Fund (PWASF) until 1982 when the name was changed to Alexander Scholarship Fund (ASF application link).

Y SERVICE CLUBSINTERNATIONAL – U.S. AREA DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

Open to qualified staff who desire to further their education in a YMCA related field in which they work. These grants are for short term courses, classes or seminars. Grants awarded up to $750.00. A written synopse is requested upon complete of the training.

disaster relief

When disasters strike Y Service Clubs U.S. Area is there to assist. Disasters impact our members, families, communities, and local YMCAs and we are here to help. 

The Brotherhood Fund

The Brotherhood Fund began in 1931 when it was known as the “Bishop’s Fund.” Later it expanded to help finance inter-continental, inter-Regional and inter-Club visitations and to assist with the overseas travel expenses of International Officers and official representatives.

ROLL BACK MALARIA FUND

Together with the World YMCA, a multi-stakeholder partnership has been created to support The Global Fund to Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The agreement was announced during the Global Fund’s sixth replenishment conference, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in Lyon, France from 9-10 October 2019. 

The Endowment Fund

The purpose of the endowment fund is to provide financial aid and stability for YMI’s present and future purposes, objectives, programs, and expansion.  The goal is to extend and develop clubs affiliated with Y’s Men International around the world and to provide funds to solve special problems or carry on special projects which strengthen, extend and develop YMI in Areas or Regions.

Time of Fast

The beginning of “Time of Fast” came by the action of the “Human Crisis Committee” in its draft “Policy Statement” made on August 23, 1969, under the chairmanship of Kenneth Adams and reported to the Board of Directors at its meeting on July 21, 1970, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Past Area President

I am a member of two Hawaii Region Y Service Clubs. I joined the Kaimuki Y Service Club on the Island of Oahu over thirty years ago and in 2007 I joined Hilo Yʻs Men & Womenʻs Club. As a Y Service member, I served in numerous positions including club president, Membership Regional Service Director and from 2014-2016 served as Hawaii Regional Director. I was elected U.S. Area President-Elect/International Council Member-Elect 2018-2019 and Area President/International Council Member 2019-2021.

The Pacific Southwest Region is made up of twenty-three clubs, organized into five districts. The region covers the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.
